song challenge - day 01 - your favorite song
That is so difficult - there are millions of amazing tracks I've grown up loving... the tracks that give you warm fuzzy feelings of nostalgia when you hear them playing randomly on the radio. But I think if I had to choose just one, it would ultimately be Lightning Crashes, by Live. It doesn't remind me of anyone or anything in particular, just makes me stop what I'm doing, close my eyes and sing along :P
new job!
I got a new job!!!
This is exciting mainly because I was not expecting it at all. I mean, I wasn't even looking for a new job and then it all just... happened :)
I'm really excited to be going on to new things, but so nervous because it is so new! That's where my head's been spinning around lately, so hopefully on Monday, after day 1, it'll all calm down somewhat and I'll be able to breathe again :P

Forgive me Father...
For I have sinned. It's been 2 weeks since my last post.

I will DEFINITELY be posting lots of nonsense today to make up for this!

Funday Munday
*EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKK* blogger's had a facelift! I'm completely off-balance now *whimpers*
This weekend in Cape Town was oh-so-gawjus! It really couldn't have been any better, we had glorious sun and wind free days, and in the middle of winter, a little glimpse of what December brings was very much appreciated!
The weekend activities were quite busy - I think that happens when the sun comes out though! I went to go and see "Bridesmaids" what a hoot! completely hilarious movie - I definitely recommend it! some lovely sushi followed the movie, and watching a friend play some soccer (brave girl!) Saturday was a lazy morning and a trip to a friends farm. (Pro: overcame my fear of horses, con: got stood on my a horse!) Sunday was relaxing in the sun with Miia and a book (she thinks the book is food? odd girl!) Fried egg on toast crispy round the edges, a trip to the grocery store, fantastic braai with family followed by the new transformers!
Dutch, I want to be your India! *g33k lurv3*
I'm tired just reliving that! wow!

After posting the lovely pic of Miia, I felt the need to do some more popart! Another fab friend of mine said I could use her face (thanks Mari!) so here is today's creation:

inkscape - proudest moment to date
So I've mentioned Inkscape loads on this blog already, but I thought I'd share the picture I've done that I'm most proud of so far. A wonderful friend of mine, Miia, said I can put her pic up so here goes:

10 years
10 Years ago on the 24th of July, my life felt like it was over. It had hardly begun, but I was robbed of one of the best friends I ever had. I often wonder what life would be like if she was still around, but funny enough she lives in my mind, 15 and smiling forever. I feel like I ought to be sad, but then why should I? She was amazing and I remember her laughing, and so I think I'll just dedicate a day to her, and have the best day I possibly can!

Nursing Home
Harold is 95 and lives in a Senior Citizen Home.
Every night after dinner, Harold goes to a secluded garden behind the centre to sit and ponder his accomplishments and long life.
One evening, Mildred, age 87, wanders into the garden. They begin to chat and before they know it, several hours have passed.
After a short lull in their conversation, Harold turns to Mildred and asks, "Do you know what I miss most of all?"
She asks, "What?"
"Sex!!" he replies.
Mildred exclaims, "Why you old fart. You couldn't get it up if I held a gun to your head!"
"I know," Harold says, "but it would be nice if a woman just held it for a while."
Well, I can oblige," says Mildred, who unzips his trousers, removes his manhood and proceeds to hold it. Afterward, they agree to meet secretly each night in the garden where they would sit and talk and Mildred would hold Harold's manhood.
Then one night Harold didn't show up at their usual meeting place. Alarmed, Mildred decided to find Harold and make sure he was O.K.
She walked around the Senior Citizen Home where she found him sitting by the pool with Ethel, another female resident, who was holding Harold's manhood!
Furious, Mildred yelled, "You two-timing creep! What does Ethel have that I don't have?"
Old Harold smiled happily and replied, "Parkinson's."

Anxiety
I can't believe I've already tainted my daily blogging rep by missing yesterday! It's shocking to say the least! But I am going to make an excuse, I'm nervous and anxious and pretty much petrified as I have a job interview later and it's all I've been thinking about! All those horrible questions you get asked about yourself, and your strengths and weaknesses and what makes you so amazing *sigh*
I just really hope I manage to get through it confidently without choking or saying something really stupid!
I shall now double post to make up for yesterday, a joke, because I know I could use a giggle about now!

In the wise words of a close friend...
'An ant on a boat in a river' sums up how small I feel today... I think I'll blame the fact that it's Monday. I also think I'll try and inkscape another ant - yes I just verb'd Inkscape! Have a super day everyone!

bob marley just made sense...
“You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect – you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break – her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she’s not there.”
Bob Marley

deep dark africa
I was just browsing through some of the blogs I follow, and being brazen did a post which featured 'deep dark africa' (handmade design) which is full of beautiful things I am dreaming of putting in my house! Take a look at deep dark africa here! I am loving the raffia trays, and glass carafe's (I might try and make some of my own!)

sunday monday dilemma!
Oh my goodness! I honestly never thought I could be so addicted to my Blackberry. It really frightened me!
Last night I did a software update, and my whole phone went psycho on me, apps were gone, menu was rearranged, app world didn't work - I wanted to cry! (in fact i might've shed a tear or 2 haha) It was infuriating and I felt so isolated without having my virtual world at my fingertips! But I decided that before I get angry, I should just have a nice sleep and sort it out in the morning.
Luckily it worked, after having to manually download things from the internet and reinstall, after turning the radio on (don't even ask! ;) its FINALLY back up and going! Life can now continue :D

a bit of humour for your Friday!
IDIOT SIGHTING:
My daughter and I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 note.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25c.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar coin back.'
She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the 25c, and said 'We're sorry but we don’t do that kind of thing.'
The cashier then proceeded to give me back 75 cents in change.
Do not confuse the people at MacD's.
IDIOT SIGHTING:
We had to have the garage door repaired.
The repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'Nooo, it's not. Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used that repairman since. Happened in Ipswich , Qld.
IDIOT SIGHTING:
I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbour call the local council P & W office to request the removal of the WOMBAT CROSSING sign on our road.
The reason: 'Too many wombats are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'
Story from Collingwood, Melbourne.
IDIOT SIGHTING IN FOOD SERVICE:
My daughter went to a Mexican takeaway and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce. From Bankstown , Sydney .....
IDIOT SIGHTING:
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked,
'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'
To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?'
He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'
This happened in Elizabeth S.A.
IDIOT SIGHTING:
The pedestrian light on the corner beeps when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an 'intellectually challenged' co-worker of mine.
She asked if I knew what the beeper was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red..
Appalled, she responded, 'What on earth are blind people doing driving?!'
She is a government employee in Adelaide P.O.
IDIOT SIGHTING:
When my husband and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a service, we were told the keys had been locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door.
As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.
‘Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!'
His reply, 'I know. I already did that side.'
STAY ALERT! They walk among us...

Making up for lost time!
I have decided to do daily Monday - Friday posts as from... you guessed it.. today! I think that if we wait until something happens that's "blogworthy" we'd be waiting forever. Where as if we force ourselves to think of something on a daily basis, it not only saves us from procrastination but also makes us realise how many truly great things happen each day, no matter how tiny! If something puts a smile on your face, then it is a truly spectacular moment indeed!
Inkscape
I was looking for drawing freeware online a while back (because I'm cheap like that! ;) and I came across a programme called Inkscape... OH EM GEE! it totally changed my life! Anyone out there wanting to dip their toes in the crystal clear, warm tropical waters of design absolutely has to, has to HAS TO check it out! There are so many tutorials available on the internet, it's so easy to use and the results are simply amazing. I felt I would be doing an injustice to the world if I didn't share this with you :D click here to download the magic! then once you're setup, try this really great tutorial and be amazed!

David Guetta
Does he make any mistakes? ever?! In my humble opinion its non-stop pumping anthems all year, and he has such a distinct sound, I love it! His new one, 'where them girls at', is growing on me so fast!
a bit of humour?
In an alcohol factory the regular taster died and the director started looking for a new one to hire.
A drunkard with ragged, dirty look came to apply for the position. The director of the factory wondered how to send him away.
They tested him.
A drunkard with ragged, dirty look came to apply for the position. The director of the factory wondered how to send him away.
They tested him.
They gave him a glass with a drink. He tried it and said, "It's red wine, a muscat, three years old, grown on a north slope, matured in steel containers."
"That's correct", said the boss.
Another glass. "It's red wine, cabernet, eight years old, a south western slope, oak barrels."
"Correct."
The director was astonished. He winked at his secretary to suggest something.
She brought in a glass of urine. The alcoholic tried it. "It's a blonde, 26 years old, pregnant in the third month. And if you don't give me the job, I'll also tell who's the father!"

some other blogs...
I haven't blogged for a while - not that I'm one of those dedicated regulars by any means - but I do look through a few blogs every week which I thought I'd start to share :)
The first is betty bake blog - an amazing food blog with loads of inspiration from a dessert treat, to some fab classy party decor and a splash of happy-go-lucky-lifestyle in between (I'll wait here while you check it out ;)
And the second one i want to mention is tetley tea 'n droewors - its random, it has a distinct british twang and I find it hilarious! (probably because it makes me miss all those crazy uk peeps so much!) so if you are a fan of the lighthearted and fabuliss - check this out!
Have a super weekend! :)

Winter is officially here, and while I love piling on warm layers of snuggly goodness, sometimes my mood matches the grey rumbling clouds outside - I think this winter calls for lots of blankets, board games, wine, fires and a puzzle or 2!
And as a side note - how great is this artzi pic!?!? compliments of betty :) go and have a look if you are hungry!

oh so arty...
So I tried to draw a cupcake on ms paint, not the easiest thing to do at all! I need to find a nice light weight program to make cute little drawings on so they come out better than this:
lady gaga
She's odd to say the least, but I just can't help but bounce around like a crazy person when I hear her songs on the radio while I'm driving! I crank up the volume, wiggle around and sing my heart out - good times!
